About Dr. Edward McInnis
Dr. Edward McInnis worked as an Emergency Physician at McMaster University Hospital for four years before becoming the Director of Care at Wasaga/Angus Community Health Center—Family Practice.
In 2010, he became a Class B reservist in the Medical Division of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Volunteering has always been a significant part of his life. During his medical school years, he devoted time to the Barrington Street Shelter in Halifax, providing medical examinations and aiding people experiencing homelessness. His commitment to volunteering extended to homeless shelters in Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario, where he also served at an STD clinic connected to the shelter. He has assisted both women and men in transitioning out of the sex trade, focusing on their education and safety. Additionally, he has tutored children in group homes.
He is a father to three daughters, aged 24, 19, and 9, and one son, aged 22. He cherishes the time spent with his children, engaging in various outdoor activities and sharing his enthusiasm for sports.
He plays an active role in his children’s lives, particularly in supporting their extracurricular activities. His involvement includes over ten years as a minor hockey coach with the Wasaga Beach and Barrie Minor Hockey Associations, more than five years as a parent helper with Simcoe Figure Skating, and over five years volunteering with his daughter’s dance troop.
He is a practicing Christian and attends Mapleview Christian Church weekly with his children.
